6" Rover | Hawthorne Muleskinner | Red Wing Shoes
STYLE NO. 2953 : ROVER
The 2953 6-inch Rover features Hawthorne Muleskinner leather with Goodyear welt and Puritan triple stitch construction atop a Coffee Cushion Crepe Wedge sole.
THE HISTORY BEHIND THE STYLE
The Rover was a name given to machine operators in early twentieth-century cotton mills and is also the name of our 6-inch round toe work boot. Made with premium leather from our tannery, and our Cushion Crepe shock-absorbing sole, this boot is built for comfort. The sole was first introduced on our work boots in 1952 and was found on our venerable No. 766 Cush-N-Crepe All Around Work Shoe up until the 1980s.

These boots are fantastic quality! The leather is smooth and supple, the the packaging is top notch. I wear a 6 or 6.5 in running shoes, depending on the brand, and ordered a 6 in these. I have plenty of wiggle room and the shoes fit comfortably snug width wise. Lengthwise I have about a thumbs width worth of room. They feel great. The buying experience was awesome!
If you have oil tanned leather shoes or boots of any kind, especially red wings you’re going to want this cream. This stuff is awesome. I use it on my red wing 875s twice a year.
i have been wanting a pair of these for awhile & decided to finally bite the bullet on that hefty price tag! they were absolutely worth it. the leather is so soft & luxurious. so pleased!
I bought the 6 inch Chelsea Boot for my wife, who normally wears 7.5 in other boots (Frye, Nisolo, etc.). We ordered size 7 knowing Red Wing runs long, however, we had to exchange them for the 6.5 (thank you Kathleen and Ballad of the Bird Dog for great customer service!) The last of this boot fits a little tight through her wide forefoot and instep, however, it is starting to break in after a couple of weeks.
The boot is American made with great quality leather and a durable Vibram rubber sole.
